The thing I love best about my work with Optimissa? Travelling to new and exciting places. New York was top of my To-Do list and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time just as Optimissa were in the process of expanding their client base in New York. So a few short weeks after discussions with the client, I found myself boarding a plane and leaving Madrid, which had been my home for the last year, bound for New York.

New York OptimissaThe thing I love best about my work with Optimissa? Travelling to new and exciting places. New York was top of my To-Do list and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time just as Optimissa were in the process of expanding their client base in New York. So a few short weeks after discussions with the client, I found myself boarding a plane and leaving Madrid, which had been my home for the last year, bound for New York.

The city that never sleeps is always on the move; a frenetic pace that also reflects itself in the workplace. New York businesses expect high standards and take an unsympathetic view on failure to deliver. The stakes are high. Are you up to the challenge?

The mission was to strengthen the fixed income team to deliver faster and improved results to a successful trading team and to implement a number of important new initiatives across the bank. In a short time I got up-to-speed on the platform set-up and our client’s processes. Most of my day-to-day duties involve discussing new project requirements with traders and implementing the system changes to deliver those projects. The most important part of the cycle is implementing the required changes without any disruption to the normal operation of the business that might otherwise be caused because of system or implementation errors: accuracy is the key. To eliminate system disruptions, I have been working on testing and quality control procedures, creating test plans and documenting regression tests sets.

I have also brought a change to the table by introducing Agile Scrum development techniques in order to organise, estimate, prioritise, and manage delivery of a large backlog of system requirements and issues. The team is now a self-organising, dynamic and interactive entity, capable of taking any requests from the business and implementing them in a timely manner, while maintaining flexible management monitoring of continuous change delivery.

New York for Optimissa is a relatively new territory; one that has huge potential for a company dedicated to capital markets consulting. As well as engaging several new customers for placement of consultants, Optimissa is also helping new clients to leverage the strengths and cost base of our Intelligence Centre in Madrid, from where we offer the latest technical expertise and in-depth functional knowledge of some of the most popular trading technology platforms on the market today, as well as delivery of off-the-shelf Optimissa products.

As the song goes: If you can make it here, you’ll make it anywhere. The new successes in New York today are testament to Optimissa’s potential for further expansions in other regions of the world tomorrow. I begin to wonder: where could I find myself helping that growth happen?
